Situated in the Forest Of Bowland, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bowland Outdoor Reared Pork, Beef & Lamb, is a small family run business who pride ourselves on providing excellent produce. Our livestock roam free on the rich, unspoilt pastures of the Forest Of Bowland ensuring Pork, Beef and Lamb of the highest quality.
Our pigs are a Large White cross Landrace breed coming from our 40 strong herd of Landrace sows sired to a Large White boar. Once weaned at 8 weeks of age the piglets are reared extensively in outdoor straw bedded kennels, fed on a natural cereal based diet and organic cheese whey.
Our Beef is mainly Aberdeen Angus cross cattle which share the grazing of our pastures with a small flock of hill sheep, producing texel lambs. These both are also reared extensively in a slower traditional way and eat mainly lush grass with a cereal and hay diet throughout the winter.
All our animals are then taken to a small local abattoir, then all meat is cut and packed professional here on our farm. This ensures everything we sell can be traced back to its origins so that the Pork, Beef and Lamb products reach you in prefect condition.
Testament to this quality of meat production is the amount of awards we have won. These include Northwest Fine Food’s ‘Producer of the Year’, ‘Best Pork’ and ‘Best Overall Sausage’ Awards in 2004 and ‘Best Pork Category’ for our Stuffed Pork Fillet in 2003.
Bowland Outdoor Reared Pork’s produce is available at farmers markets and food events across the northwest. And you can now enjoy our Pork, Beef and Lamb whenever you choose, through our new mail order service.
In addition to Pork, Beef and Lamb by mail order, Bowland Outdoor Reared Pork also specialise in hog roasts and barbeques for your special events and functions.
